Your first proper stop in York, and likely the first real scene of the whole campaign.
Walter Croft
Human cooper, mid-forties, steady and well-liked. Walter splits his working week between a cooperage stall near the Gooderham & Worts distillery and repair work at Fort York’s Stone Powder Magazine. He is likely to be holding the room’s attention on your first night — good-naturedly ribbed by the other patrons about his fondness for Sable, the tiefling who runs the trip hammer floor at the fort’s forge.
A low-stakes way to meet York’s texture, the York–Fort York connection, and a friendly recurring face — all before you have any idea what you are walking into.
The Rumour Drop
It is here, or shortly after, that word arrives about urgent work needed at the fort’s forge — hardware for a supply wagon heading west toward the Credit Valley. This is the hook that gets you moving toward Fort York.
